Geos Challenge

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Geos Challenge Android app handles information. Geos Challenge is a geography quiz game. Gameplay is available to guests, while Google sign-in and the online leaderboard are optional.

Information We Collect

If you play as a guest, the app does not require personal information. If you choose Google sign-in to use the online leaderboard, we receive and store the Google profile name, email address, Firebase user ID, and profile photo URL associated with the signed-in account. These details are used to authenticate the account and associate the player's scores with it.

Local Gameplay Data

When a signed-in player completes a game, the app sends the resulting score to the Geos Challenge leaderboard service. The leaderboard stores the player's cumulative score, most recent score, best score, and number of completed games. Guest gameplay remains local and is not submitted to the online leaderboard.

How We Use Information

We use this information only to provide Google sign-in, maintain the shared leaderboard, display a player's name and score, and protect the service. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising or marketing.

Service Providers and Security

Authentication and leaderboard data are processed using Google Firebase services and the Geos Challenge hosting/API infrastructure on our behalf. Data sent between the app, Firebase, and the API uses encrypted HTTPS connections. We do not use the data for unrelated purposes.

Advertising, Purchases, and Third Parties

The Android app does not display advertising, does not offer in-app purchases, and does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Children's Privacy

The app is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Account and Data Deletion

To request deletion of your Geos Challenge account and associated leaderboard data, email contact@geoschallenge.com with the subject “Geos Challenge account deletion”. Include the Google account email address used to sign in so that we can verify and process the request. We will delete the associated Firebase Authentication account and leaderboard profile data. Guest/local gameplay data can be removed by uninstalling the app or clearing its app data. We may retain limited records where required by law or for security purposes, after which they are deleted.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the app's functionality or data practices change. Any updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
